Real-time alert overlay: displays the last 3 triggered symbols with cross detection on drawn levels
Alert Log Monitor displays the last 3 unique alert symbols as a compact text overlay on your chart, with built-in cross detection on user-drawn horizontal lines and rectangles. It monitors the Sierra Chart alert log file in real time and auto-detects the Logs folder and timezone from your chart settings, with zero manual configuration.
If you trade multiple symbols and rely on Sierra Chart alerts to flag when price crosses a key level on a watchlist instrument, you know the problem: the default alert window pops, you dismiss it, and 30 seconds later you've forgotten which symbol fired. Alert Log Monitor keeps the last few alerts visible at all times, on whatever chart you're currently focused on, so you never lose track of what just triggered.
It also adds something the built-in alert system doesn't: cross-chart event propagation through the alert log itself. When price crosses a user-drawn level on one chart, the symbol surfaces on every other chart running the study.
sc.DataFilesFolder, with no manual path configuration required.sc.TimeScaleAdjustment so displayed alert times always match the chart's time scale. After purchase, Alert Log Monitor is added to your Sierra Chart account automatically. Restart Sierra Chart, then add the study to any chart via Analysis → Studies → Add Custom Study → Alert Log Monitor. Set the text position, font size, and colors to taste; the Logs folder and timezone are detected automatically.
At runtime, the study tails the Sierra Chart alert log file and extracts the most recent alert events. The last 3 unique symbols are kept in a rolling buffer and rendered as a text overlay at your chosen screen position. Each entry shows a short symbol code, the originating chart's TitleBarName when resolvable, and the alert time in HH:MM with the chart's timezone offset applied.
For cross detection, the study watches user-drawn horizontal lines and rectangles tagged with a "." text label. When price intersects one of those drawings, the study writes a marker line to the alert log file with the symbol. Other instances of the study on other charts read that marker on their next ACSIL pass and surface the symbol in their own overlay, enabling cross-chart alerting without configuring Sierra Chart's built-in alert system.
